Enrique Peña Nieto: The "Beckham" of the PRI

Enrique Peña Nieto, a top contender for the coming Mexican polls, is known for more than his politics, due to his impressive countenance. It is safe to say that prevailing opinion holds him the top contender among the candidates. His opponents are worried that if the elections were held today, he would definitely win.

The official campaign period for Mexico's 2012 Presidential Elections does not start until April but Peña Nieto's momentum and popularity see no signs of dwindling down. Nieto's talents at addressing the people are well-known, and they have served him well for some time now. Nieto also happens to be an extremely charismatic person, with an innate magnetism.

Televisa is often named as a conspirator in Nieto's seemingly unassailable popularity. The allegation is that money changed hands with the result that the TV network agreed to do Nieto's campaign advertising for him. The television company allegedly depicts a positive political and presidential image for Peña Nieto.

One possible cause for the allegations is the man's public relationship with a famous actress from the network. Rivera is famous in her own right, perhaps even more popular than Nieto in a sense, given how many times her face has shown up in various soap operas with a cult following. Nieto eventually married Rivera, some time after his previous wife passed away.

From his first marriage, Nieto has three children. Pretelini expired of a cardiac complication when Nieto was still the governor of the State of Mexico. This made Nieto one of the most popular single Mexicans in the country.

But Nieto is not simply a man known for his pull on the ladies. The man's popularity is also partly attributable to his work in finding out what voters require and his efforts in filling those requirements. His work has been primarily concerned with infrastructure development.

Many of the public work projects from the politician, upon completion, became press field days as Nieto did his best to promote his accomplishments, like any good politician. This is perhaps one big reason for the man's reputation as a politician who actually keeps campaign promises. Opponents still note that Nieto's expenditures for the promotions of his "completed promises" were far higher than the expenditures for the completion of the promises themselves.

Nieto also got some flak for something that happened in the Guadalajara Book Fair. The former governor became the target of jokes for failing to recall the titles and authors of books that he considered his favorites. The politician claimed that he had never been great at recalling book titles and writers, as he was the sort of reader who recalled contents better.

Unfortunately, quite a number of persons ridiculed him for it. Paulina, Nieto's first daughter, was quite emotional about the issue and also gave out a scathing portrayal of the people ridiculing her father. Nieto made a handsome admission and apology on behalf of his daughter, but the ridicule remained.

Enrique Peña Nieto asserts that his words are often taken out of context by his detractors. Most people are still predicting his win in the polls, though. Surveys and polls are indicating that he may well be the next Mexican president.
